Making Slow Cooker Organic Pepper Chili is a budget friendly and easy week-night meal!
1 lb Publix Organic Chuck
Salt, garlic, pepper, chili powder all to taste
2 cans organic publix tomatoes
2 organic kidney beans
1 can white chili beans
1 small pkg of sweet baby peppers
1/2 small onion, chopped
1/2 bunch of green onions, chopped or cut
Saute the onions, green onions, sweet peppers (chopped), and add seasoning to taste.
In the same pan saute the Organic Chuck, until well done.
Add all the tomatoes and beans to the slow cooker.
Once the meat is done and the onions and peppers are translucent, add them to the slow cooker with the beans.
Cook for 4 hours on high, covered.
We enjoy chili in a large bowl with cheese, sour cream and chives.
I purchased all the items from Publix. Make sure to always check their weekly ads. The bogo helps us create budget-friendly recipes during the week!
We love our Kitchen Aid Slow Cooker and use it quite frequently.
What to purchase organic?
The Full List for 2017 form EWG’s we find to be very helpful. But I know what you are thinking, can a family trying to stick with a budget really purchase organic food?
The answer is YES!
Its all about knowledge & understanding what to purchase organic and what conventional items are ok. We have some food limitations in our family, we normally don’t eat anything with Carbs, Sugar and Gluten. Except the little one does. All his food and drinks are 100% organic.
Just a few of our Organic Weekly Shopping List Items
- Milk, we love Organic Valley
- Eggs, we love the Publix Greenwise Line
- Chicken, we love the Publix Greenwise Line, they have also launched an organic chicken line
- Strawberries, Bananas
- Orange Juice
As you can see we don’t buy a lot of unnecessary items. I always shop the outer part of the store.
In addition, not only does the kind and type of food you put in your body matter, drinks are just as important. We only drink TEN water. For us we find the TEN alkaline spring water has the highest ph on the market. We buy the gallon containers that Publix carries. There are many studies about why ph water is better for your body. I would recommend reading whats out there and deside for yourself.
